New head gaskets leaking coolant 12498544
SO i pulled an engine from a 99 z28, replaced all gaskets including head gaskets gm part number 12498544. put the engine in my 1960 parkwood and started it on saturday. After car sat overnight found a small amount of coolant leaking out the side of the head gaskets. i used new bolts on the install. DId i use the wrong part number? if so what should i put on it. The ones i took off were graphite style. These were MLS.

Unless its not the original engine and heads, it should use the 12498543 graphite , did your heads have the notch on the deck side, im thinking they did from what iv read and its right where its leaking out at.. dont take my word for it, do some research, as i just did.. search something like 12498543 vs 12498544
neways hope this helps peace

That notch has caused many swear words. It would be on the exhaust side of the middle cylinders. If you're dead set on MLS, felpro makes one with a relief cut in for that notch so it will seal.
Here's the shitty part. You're going to need to pull the heads again. If you used stock bolts you are going to need to replacement again also.

Yep, they are ok. Best of luck on the redo, which totally sucks, I know.
