Default Advice on cam selection.

Hey guys, EPS cam that was in my engine is no good. Some lobes have some definite ware, and I don't trust reusing it. I have carefully taken into account some of my own thoughts and advice from you guys and what i want to do is a simple cam only setup.

Ls1 stock bottom end.
Fast intake
Fast TB
1 7/8 headers
stock 241's with springs
cam?

I want something that can get me 400whp with the suppoting mods above, and still can work with a set of aftermarket heads, or parted ones later. All while not having to rip into the bottom end of the engine.

From what i read the TSP Torquer V2 on a 112 seems like a popular route, but if you guys have any ideas let me know.

Is the car stick or auto? This question has been beaten to death and everyone has a different opinion. Ask a vendor like BTR, Martin Smallwood, Texas-speed, Etc.

My buddy ran the Torquer 2 on his stock head 6-speed GTO and it was a strong runner for what it was. That's a great overall profile for stock heads IMO

Car is an 04, 6 speed, gto. Was stripped out pretty good, now putting back in the AC, and stereo to be able to drive the car daily.

I would like a cam that I can later use with a set of Mamo's with out PTV issues later. Hoping to get the car to low 12.0's with a simple setup.

Any vendors or others have experience with Mamo's?

Just contact Geoff and get something similar to what you had...he now has them ground through Cam Motion which are a far superior product.

If you're changing it up he can adjust accordingly. His advice is worth much more than strangers on a forum or guessing at it.

Just my $.02

If you are going turbo get something appropriately suited to your power goals & RPM range to work with the turbo.

Torquer 2 is a good cam. Its about as big as i would run in a daily driver... but i do run TSP 233/239 as well.

Another solid cam is speed inc 231/237.

I have had a very pleasant experience with mamo heads. The valves are raised a bit, so PTV not much of a concern. His heads work incredibly well getting great numbers out of milder cams. My build is linked in my sig. 5 liter eater is doing a similar build.

My advice is similar to thunderstruck's. Get a good cam from cam motion that will work well with your stock heads for a DD. When you're ready, throw the Mamo heads on.
