Default Quick Q about cam installation...

Dot to dot means dot to dot, right? My cam is to be installed "dot to dot", so as long as the dots are lined up, I don't have to worry about where TDC is, and making sure #1 is at TDC, etc, just dot to dot, right? Also, if the crank dot is not at the top from when I took it apart, what do I need to do to get it up top, just reinstall the old crank bolt and turn it until its up top? Thanks, Shawn

Correct, put the old bolt in turn the crank until the dot is straight up. Then install the cam gear so it is "dot to dot" and you will be fine.

I'm being told that you should degree a cam in, how do you do that with an ls1 when there is not timing mark indicator? I'm also about to do a cam and was planning on simply lining up the dots.

I just got done doing my swap, and I put the crank dot at the top and just lined up the cam dot to dot.

I had +4* ground in to my cam so I didn't need to degree anything, just straight up.

You'll need a degree wheel, piston stop and a dial indicator. You don't use timing marks on the balancer. But if you buy a cam from one of the sponsors that checks all their cams on a CamPro machine, then you should be fine installing it dot-to-dot. I knew mine could potentially be close, so I degreed it in to be 100% sure where it was installed.
