LS1 guys running 5.3 heads, a few ?s for ya'll
Do the 5.3 heads (stage 1,2 or whatever) produce a lot of torque?
Are they a very noticiable difference at the track, dyno, SOTP?
It comes across to me as, if you put the 5.3 heads on, that you gain top-end horsepower and maybe loose some torque or not gain much? I hope I'm wrong, that's just what I've gathered from looking at dyno #s. The reason I say that is most of the 5.3 head dynos the torque #s always seem to be lower than the horsepower #s. It concerns me, since I am wanting to use my spare set of 5.3 heads (AS or TEA stage 2 headwork) on my LS1 shortblock and putting it in a ext. cab.
Thanks.

peak torque is almost always lower that peak hp, what you have to look at is the curve. hp is a factor of torque and rpm's divided by 5252 or (tq x rpm / 5252)= hp.
500tq x 6000rpm /5252=571.2 as an example so while the hp looks higher it is only because of the rpm multiplier.

My car, needs a little more tuning, but I put down 398rwtq with the mods in my sig..... Maybe it was just me, but I felt like every day driving, I gained all across the rpm band

Agree wholeheartedly with the above. I gained 32 RWT andmy car only wants 21* at WOT. I can't figure out why but there's more in it, for sure. The torque gains I notice most around town and when it's time to dance, keeping them in the power up high means hang on to your a$$! Very good gains across the board for me. Now, if only I could get my car to like timing.
