Default Tr 224 cam 114 LSA question

I'm thinking about getting the TR 224 cam .653/.653 with a 114 lsa for my 2002 M6 camaro SS. Only thing holding me back is the problem with swapin springs every 20k + miles? Is this true or do the springs actually last longer?
This car is my daily driver so 20k will go by pretty fast. This is one of the reasons holding me back. Anyone have another story to tell about mileage vs springs with this cam?

Or should i go with the 02+ ls6 cam and springs and not have to worry about swapping out the springs.

I've got 25k or so on my 918 springs with an aggressive cam, and so far so good. I think you should be able to go 36k without too much trouble. It also depends on how high you rev the engine and how often. The faster you rev it, the harder it is on the springs. Call thunder and speak with Paul...He should be able to reassure you.

try looking into comp cams. they make grinds with the same duration as that cam but with lower lift 530ish i believe. ls1speed sells them-----------------
i like my asa cam which dont require frequent spring changes but might be a little more than you want it has 226 236 duration lift is .525 .525. springs are really not an issue with it. its a good 390hp cam on stock heads bolton car makes awesome torque too!!!

I have this 224/224 .563 114lsa cam in my car with the crane dual spring kit.

Its a baby cam for sure these days with ls1edit. The car runs like a stock motor car right from GM. The few hundred dollars needed every 20 to 25 k miles to replace the valve springs is certainly a small price to pay for the performance benefit.

This is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Great mod for a daily driver .

I had TTP performance in Saddlebrook NJ do the install and its seamless except for all the added power.

How does this cam compare with the TR 224 cam? Whats the difference? Where can you really feel the power difference?

Will this 226 236 cam pass cali smog?

isnt it the smaller the lift the less hp you gain from the cam?

lift is not all that matters on cam. duration, lsa, and other factors come into play. the asa cam will not pass cali smog. if i were you i would call futral motorsports or texas speed both are sponsers on the right-------------- tell them what your looking for and they both will recommend you a cam. both are very helpful companies. good luck!
