Best resource for head swap instructions?
Just curious if the LS1HowTo site is still the best resource for step-by-step instructions on swapping heads?
I've never done it before, so really I just want to make sure I don't have any nasty surprises while going through the process. That write-up looks really good with torque specs/sequence, which thread locker to use, etc.
While I'm at it, I'm also doing several other things. This isn't a complete list of parts, just the main components.
-Head swap
-Change headers
-Poly motor mounts
-LS6 valley cover
-FAST 102
So what's the best order here? My thinking is this:
1. Misc stuff - drain radiator and oil, remove air lid and intake manifold etc.
2. Remove headers and Y
3. Remove Heads, clean block, remove valley cover
4. Swap motor mounts
5. Reinstall valley cover
6. Reinstall heads
7. Reinstall headers, Y
8. Reinstall intake, fluids
Does anything look really out of place? I just assumed motor mounts would be easiest when I have basically everything out of the way.

The main catastrophic **** up that can happen is you don't clean the bolt holes properly and crack the block.
I recommend spending money on these two items. Vacuum out the coolant with a shop vac and 7-11 straw, or blow out the coolant with compressed air.
Then run these through until nothing comes out anymore.

The biggest thing is cleaning the bolt holes out so there is no water or dirt this way you don't crack your block. Straw on the shop works awesome. And to me the biggest pain is cleaning the deck on the block. After cleaning off the gasket i use a wood block with wd-40 and 400 grit sand paper to clean deck. Make sure you follow the torque sequence for the heads. The worst part is all the anti freeze that comes out. I used a hose on a shop vac and sucked out the antifreeze through the water pump outlets into the block. Worked great.
