Default 4.8 stamped head gaskets on a 5.3?

Has anyone seen this before? Everything I have read has stated that the 4.8/5.3 numbers cast into the back of the block MAY have one set of numbers highlighted with yellow paint pen and the head gaskets will be stamped either 4.8 or 5.3.

Well I bought a '5.3' drop out from a 2000ish pickup (paid $400 for it with all accessories etc. so I'm not heartbroken either way). The back of the block has the 4.8 portion highlighted and the engine has 4.8 stamped head gaskets.... but then it has dished pistons. I have yet to pull the pan for the crank casting number but has anyone seen this before? Did they ever put dished pistons in a 4.8?

Should still be a 5.3 with the dished pistons if its a Gen III motor.
