valve lash
I want to get the most out of my cam without keeping the valve open obviously... but how many turns past zero lash are you actually in danger of keeping it open on the hydraulic ls7 lifters ? Seems like if you are just 1/2 a turn in.. you are leaving some cam play on the table once the aluminum heads and block stretch out... if you are 1.5 turn in... is that to far to risk once warmed up and oil pressure up ?
on a higher turning rpm setup (8000 rpm)... is more play better ? or worse ?

Also, at that high an RPM, I hope you have better rod bolts, larger OD pushrods and a very stable valve train.
I wasn't real happy with my ls7 lifters prior to the swap honestly...seems several times after making 1/4 mile passes I was getting a lot of noise. In the future I think I would spring for some Morel drop ins at minimum.
I've used the Cadillac racing lifters and older vortec lifters in the past with no issue but the ls7s seemed a little off to me. Might have been a fluke, IDK.
I know I'm really very happy with the swap to solid roller though and I only turn mine 7k on occasion.
