i just figure once I can hook with taller gears, tge DS is the next weak link. But I've got to let the bank account recover for a bit.

Stock driveshaft is garbage (what else is new - GM didn't over-engineer any part of the car sans for the shortblock). Get a 3.5" aluminum heavy wall or a 3" chromoly. What's another $500?

I tell you! Right now, I think lack of traction is actually saving me some damage. I was thinking to possibly go carbon fiber on the DS for the weight, but I haven't priced it yet. Also, if I'm remembering some of my old physics course stuff correctly, the lighter parts will have higher resonance frequency so less prone to driveline vibration?

I know at one point you were experimenting with different fuels-- what did you decide was best?

Default Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Darth,
You are right, not only is the CF DS extremely light it acts
As a vibration dampener at the back off the Crank,
Reducing harmonics, Smoothing out the driveline,
and increasing bearing/engine life. Downside is cost
Probably at least $800.00-$1000.00, and they are extremely
Fragile and vulnerable in street/DD duty to splintering
From minor impacts.
Very Cool Though!

Just regular gasoline. I can mix and match with 100-octane, etc, but once I ditched that crappy Y-pipe I had, I stopped seeing any KR.

That was my fear. I don't mind paying for a part that will significantly improve the car and last, but I would rather not pay for one that will be a constant wear part.

No offense but this cant be farther from the truth....Have you ever owned one and had this happen? I and a lot of other have and daily driven them even. I put 20k on mine daily driving through construction zones, potholes etc. The notion that a rock is going to damage carbon fiber is insane. Short of whacking it with a large sledge hammer the cf isnt doing anything. Please dont repeat that information because it is very false. In fact a 13-14 shelby uses a cf shaft right from Ford....

Darth refer to my last post about how I feel a cf shaft on a daily driver....Like I said mine was fantastic, smoothed out engine vibes during acceleration and freed up a few lbs as well. The last thing you need to be concerned about is a small rock in the road nicking the shaft. Lol I'd come home and my under carriage would be COVERED in gravel dust. The shaft never had a nick in it. If you can spare the coin its fantastic. Like I said above Ford thought it was good enough to throw a 5 year warranty on in the gt500, I think its perfectly fine for your car

Been running carbon fiber driveshafts in my fox body since 1999. Supra since 2000. Camaro 2010. DD duty. They don't splinter etc. FYI 2013 and up GT500 have carbon fiber ds. Stop spreading bs

I had a PST alum driveshaft in my car, and it smoothed the driveline nvh out alittle. Definitely worth the upgrade over stock.

I'm doing carbon fiber in my car also. And in my street car when I get it done too. I've read quite a few posts about guys running them in DD and that made up my mine. Like the clutch and the heads. You pay a little more for the best of the best.

Anything aftermarket I put in my car better be lighter than the stock part its replacing. I'm not in the business of adding weight for hp. DS is no exception, every aftermarket metal shaft is heavier than stock.

Well I'm officially off the naughty list. One good road trip tonight and we will see what it sounds like beyond the garage.
