Is 420 rwhp to high
Trying to figure what RWHP I'll be looking at with this combo..
B1 cam (221/221 .558/.558 114)
GTP Stage 1 heads
FLP headers
LS6 intake
ASP pulley
Borla exhaust
Whisper lid
Considering ported TB
Stock 10 bolt with 3:42's
Car is an M6
Already have tuning but that would get updated
Trying to decide if I should spend the money and go with Stage 2 heads and a different cam such as the C1 (btw I already have these parts in my garage)
This is a daily drive and my wife does drive the car from time to time, doesn't see a whole bunch of track duty, the occasional 1/4 mile run. I'd like to start AutoX and RR too. I have some suspension parts too but that doesn't really matter on the dyno.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
i'll watch this thread because i'm curious as well. with a stage one head, i think the b1 could make between 400-415 (with all bolt-on mods and good exhaust), especially with your stock rear. stage two, maybe 420-430.

Vince - was your 421hp through your 4.10 gear?
BTW Jayson at MTI will be doing the tuning, he did it the first time and said he would update when I got everything on.

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
hey dude,
i found this on the "other" board:
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">
Well I have the gtp stage 2 5.7 heads milled .030 and I put down 410rwhp and 380rwtq with all the boltons no cats and flp headers with a B1 lunati cam 220/220 .558 lift on a 114lsa so I'm not to sure about Smoke's statement saying all gtp cars dyno in the 430-440 rwhp range and I seriously doubt a reverse split cam or some type of big cam is going to give me an additional 30 rwhp and 30 rwtq over a B1. As a side note that was my best pull. My first pull was 400 rwhp and 375 rwtq and I got the bump to 410 rwhp by playing with the maft. This dyno was done thru a stock 10bolt with 4.10 gears. No codes or any type of problems were apparent either with a 12.8 a/f.
Also my car was by no means a low dyno car originally. With the cam and headers only I dynoed 370 rwhp and 368 rwtq so it would have been nice to pick up more than 12 rwtq with the addition of the heads.
If I were to do it over again I would have gone with TEA 5.3 heads and saved a couple of bucks.
steve
I'm running that puny b1cam with about 10.6 compression on my gtp heads.
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">his sig:
99ss m6, GTP stage 2 heads(5.7), B1 lunati cam, all boltons with fikse fm10 rims.
username is "SB".
hope that helps.
i think with more compression ratio (11.0 to 1), he might hit that 420 hp mark.

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
Hmmmm, I saw a guy on here who pulled 440 w/ S2 heads, B1 cam, and LS6 intake, pulley. I think it was Smoke_ur_5.0 or somebody. It was a red formula.

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
I found his site. Guess I was mistaken he only made 430 something but through 4.10 gears.

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
nice. i went to his site and since he added dynotech headers, he now makes 435rwhp/410rwtq with EMT stage 2 heads. wow. i wonder what type of y pipe he's using...
[edit]
EXHAUST:
Dynatech Headers w/off road y-pipe(ceramic coated)
Random Technologies catback (with cutout)
so now i wonder how much hp the cutout gave since the random tech cat-back is pretty straight thru design.

Re: Is 420 rwhp to high
Smoke_ur_5.0's car I remember only being around 3 hp difference between full exhaust and having the tail section of the random tech off... You might want to ask him though.... His name is Mark of Raging Motorsports------------>
I know he is running true duals now, and his own raging cam.. His car is brutally quick!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

98UltraZ you will have the brutally fast car now. Those heads you have now will be the ticket. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
