I really wasn't trying to sound like an *******, but I seem to have come off that way anyways. For that I apologize.

Anyways, the headers and exhaust will make more difference than any difference you will notice between the LS1 and the LS6 cam. Using a real exhaust will make more difference than any difference you will notice between 241 and 243 heads.

Case and point, if there is any way you can possibly afford and fit long tube headers with a full exhaust... then you definitely should.

If you want to know how to really optimize an otherwise stock internals LS1 and really hurt some feelings, PM big hammer. Bolt ons, exhaust, lightweight rotating parts, it all adds up. He's done one of the best I've heard of with a stock internals LS1. Gets far better performance than most of the cam only builds.

^^^When you say; "lightweight rotating parts" do you mean; front of engine accessory pullies/water pump, and lightweight flywheel and clutch??

all of them. Yes. Manual steering. Electric water pump. Anything adding resistance, try to get rid of or reduce.

Headers and exhaust will do a lot more than underdrive pulleys and MR2 electric power steering ever will. Not saying those other things wouldn't help, but headers would help more.
