Default These rods any good?

Bought a used alum ls1 shortblock from a member here. block had around 105k(ish?) on it and had been run with a supercharger (unknown PSI). I started tearing it down today and noticed that the rod bearings are pretty much shot, which is fine cause I was planning on new bearings anyway, but I see some pretty decent grooves on the rod itself. I have a pic of the #3 piston (which was the worst of the bunch), so I'll let it speak for itself. I'll post up pics of the rest of the rods as I get them cleaned up.

I'm no expert...but, they look fine to me...

It doesn't look to me like the bearings have spun...it looks like normal discoloration from a 105,000 mile engine.

Are they really grooves, can you catch a nail on them??? or just discolored???

If there is any doubt you can always resize them.

Looks normal to me but it never hurts to measure.

Otherwise, now is a good chance to throw some ARP bolts in them and let the shop hone them .002".

They don't "catch" my nail, but I can definitely feel them with my nail. I'll probably get auto bolts and have them honed, which would hopefully clean up most of it. I just wasn't sure if they were too far gone.

I don't think so...some ARP's and have then resized...good for another 100,000.

Anyone know the average price of getting rods resized for arp bolts? Do they usually require thicker bearings?

first one looks usable but the second one has a funny wear pattern on the bottom. To be honest with you, if it was mine, I would trash them.

Yeah I noticed that. Right around the little notch on the bearing. Maybe a piece of trash got stuck there and caused some weird wear?

In figure I'll bring them with me when I bring the crank to be polished and See what the guys at the Mac shop say. Worst case it shouldn't be too much for replacement rods/labor to press them on

Mine look the same but there is no groove. I had a machine shop check them out and they were all good
