Default Valve seal depth?

I am installing a .660 dual platinum spring kit from BTR and I'm concerned that I may have the wrong seals. The first pic show a seal that came off the head and a new seal that came in the kit. Second pic shows the new seals installed. The old spring kit was supposedly a set of AFR springs kit. It appear as though the seals are sitting about 1/4" inch off the locators and the BTR kit says it should only be 1/8" inch. Can anyone give me some insight. Heads are stock 241 as far as I know.

Several threads out there about this. Pretty sure I had the same moment of concern the first time I installed duals myself. Short answer is that the 1/8" is only a round guideline and if you oiled them up, pulled the little round spring off the top of the seal, and put them all the way on with a proper tool, you're good to go.

Plenty will say use a socket, but please get the tool. It's THAT much better for this purpose.

You will hear "donk, donk, donk" when starting out, and then "dink, dink, dink" (less hollow and slightly higher pitched) when they are all the way on.

How's that for onomatopoeia in the morning?

Use that tool, put a few layers of good duct tape on the back side of it, line it up STRAIGHT, plenty of oil, remember to take off each little spring(and put it back when done!!) and a medium weight hammer with relatively soft blows. Or you could skip the tape and use a rubber hammer.
