Default Help me decide which camshaft!!

I am in the process of a 416 LS3

Mamo motorsports 235CC with his
extra hand porting 70CC chamber with hollow valves
11.50 compression ratio
Fast 102 Mamofied
102TB
Yella terra roller rockers 1.8 ratio
Electric water pump
Under drive pulley

4L80e
3.73 rear gear

This will be street/strip. Goal is to run 10s n/a. I want to go with the bigger cam for added power but don't want it to be annoying to drive.

Cam 1. 237/239 114
Cam 2. 243/248 114

If it's tuned right that bigger cam shouldn't have any issues

If you are not aware you will want to be sure the cam you choose will work with the 1.8 rockers.

Running 10s with a combo like that should be cake. I'm sneaking up on 10s with worse everything.

They are both specd by mamo. And he is selling me the 1.8 rockers also. so yes they will be correct. just cant decide what size I want.

Did Tony give you any indication on how much more power the bigger cam will make up top and how much it will sacrifice down low?

Actually waiting on an email back from him on power difference. The first cam was specd thinking I was going to keep my 6 speed but since then I decided to switch to automatic. That's when I wondered about a bigger cam, and the fact that id like to get into the 10s.

This what he did say.

Don't forget you have to have a higher idle speed the more aggressive we go on cam duration so shifting from Park becomes an issue unless the converter slips a bit there. I think this cam would work well with a 3600-3800 stall......that's a good choice for an engine that makes good TQ like this one will

A 243/248 would be plenty.....healthy but not over the top

I like the bigger cam as well, but I'm wondering how well it will work with the 4L80E and 3.73's. My buddy has that same combo with a 4000 stall, and to be honest it seems to be a bit long winded, and definitely could use more gear. His setup is different being a HCI LS1 though. Just a thought..

actually this s60 has 800 miles and it whines on decal bad. so I will be switching gear. I would have the option of 4:10 rather than 3.73.

Either one of those cams will put you in the tens with 3.73s!
1 7/8" LTs and true duals the small cam will drive very smooth.
With a Y merge exhaust I would want the extra 3* exhaust split.
Actually I would run the bigger cam with the 3600 RPM Stall
and 3.73s you won't be able to hook on street tires till 80+
MPH as it is LOL!

I haven't decided between true duals or y. I like the cutout sound at the drag strip. so im thinking ARH 1 7/8 haders y into 4" merge then 4" cutout and bottled back to my 3" maganflow.

I see you've got lots of votes for the larger cam. If it were a 346, if say the smaller one. With that 416, the displacement will absorb a lot of that cam. I think you'll find its tamer than you'd expect due to the displacement
