Default Build Advice

Good Evening, I purchased a 6.0 Iron block recently. According to the guy i bought it from the block has been opened up .020 over. I was originally going to put some .020 over pistons in and call it a day but I'm actually wanting to build a stroker. with a 4" stroke I'm looking at a 406. The block has also been decked to 9.220. The cylinders have been honed and all that has to be done is purchasing the parts, balancing, assembly and clearance checks. For pistons I'm looking at Wiseco -3cc domes, with H beam rods (6.125). The crank will be a Lunati 4" stroke crank with the 24 tooth ring. Because of the deck height I plan to run a stock MLS head gasket. As for heads and a cam I have a 219cc heads (64cc combustion chambers) and cam package from AI. The cam is a 230/238 .605 lift 113+2 LSA. I figure this would be a very stout combo. The intake manifold will be an LS6 thats had the mouth opened up to 85mm with an 85mm throttle body. Power wise I'm not enitrely sure how much it would make but I do know for a fact it'll be a huge difference compared to the 5.7 Torque wise. What do you all think? Also If i calculated everything right my compression will be between 11.5-12.0:1 which is my target goal.

I can attest to the 6.0 having a noticeable torque gain over the 5.7 with all else being equal. With my HCI the 6.0 was a noticeable improvement

That's good to hear. Only thing is I changed to 4.11's with the 5.7. With this 406 I bet I'll want to go back to my stock gear. It's an M6 GTO

My buddy just switched from his stock LS2 to a 416 LS3 stroker. Same HCI transfered over and said the stock 3.42 gear (not sure if this exactly right) now feels perfect, whereas before it was lacking. His car is a 06 GTO

I'm a 403 with 4.11 gears on a 8.8 rear and that combo hauls like a freight train in 3rd & 4th on street tires.

I need a new driveshaft to run slicks.

Thats great to hear. I honestly cant wait to experience how this setup performs. does your setup put down great dyno numbers and run excellent 1/8, 1/4 mile times?

I'm kinda low in the numbers for a couple of reasons.

I didn't know my clutch packs in the rear needed changed so I had a lot of slippage. 1st time I tried dyno tuning with a huge vacuum leak intake and crappy injectors I put down 450rwhp/440tq. After I fixed them and went back for the tune it put down 430rwhp/420tq with the clutch packs completely useless. So I need to go back to get a true number now that there is no slipping.

My biggest hold back in pwr is my stock 243 heads. They are not ported or milled. Once my car get's a new coat of paint I'll be saving up for heads.

Times at the track...like I said with traction it moves out. Especially when I'm in 3rd and 4th. It just pulls hard. Only negative I can say with 4.11 gears is the gas mpg takes a hit but then again I'm not really looking for mpg....

My 403:
LQ4 Block bored 4.005"
K1 4" Forged Stroke Crank
Polluter stg3 Cam
DSS Forged Pistons
SCAT I beam 6.125" Forged Rods
King bearings
ARP studs
243 Heads with BTR Dual Plat. 6x springs,
LS7 Lifters
LS2 timing chain
Melling 10296 Oil Pump
