Default Lq4 build

I have a lq4 block. Stock 243 heads and crank. I'm wanting to use these pistons https://m.summitracing.com/parts/slp...make/chevrolet. They are the speed pro flat tops. I don't wanna use my stock rods I want forged. Will a 6.125 rod give me any problems? I know the factory is 6.098 but every after market rod is 6.125.

Yes, 6.125" rods usually use a .927" pin so those pistons won't work with them.

They do make 6.100" forged rods though. You need one for a .943" pin to work with those pistons. You can use either a press fit or floating pin setup, but I would get a bushed pin for the floating pin setup. Check Scat, Eagle, or Callies.

Scat has the bushed H beam rods available HERE that will fit. They work very well are forged and have the right pin and arp rod bolts. The speed pro pistons i believe are set up for the floating pins now.

I'm using these SCAT rods in a .060-over LQ build right now.

They're surprisingly nice and a great price for something that's just supposed to be better than stock but not over-kill.

We have those same rods also, but if you are doing a build you may as well get the bushed rod right and the rigidity and strength of the H beam? Those are pressed pins.
Here they are.

I know amazon is cheap with alot of things (we happen to be even less) but it really shows little faith in forum vendors when parts we have are instead linked from ebay and amazon. They dont provide any tech support or backup for their parts either.

OP linked to summit. I linked to summit. OP is asking about rods to use with cheap Hypereutectic pistons. Suggested rods are twice what his pistons cost and are over-kill. I was just trying to point to something that will work for him and not be more than he's asking for. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes when I post here. BTW, the WS6Store's price on those rods is really great!

Your link was going to Amazon, not Summit. Hence the comment about Amazon from WS6Store.

Have them checked by a machinist. He can measure the bores and the pins to see if your press fit/clearances are good or not. Worse case scenario; you use stock press fit pins and bump the pistons through the bone to open them up a little bit.

I have floating or press fit pistons. My piston takes either. I wanna go with floating rods. The guy from ws6 store suggested scat .945 rods. I just need to know if .945 rods would work with .943 pistons

If they are floating or pressed style they will work with the scat rods.

If they are a bushed 6.0098-6.100 rod then yes. Just remember not all rods are created equally and there is a reason I recommend the scat rods for most "budget" builds.
