Can you resleeve 5.3 block?
My question is, can a 5.3 block be sleeved reliably to handle big bores? maybe make a 427 with a 4" crank?
I know many people will recommend to get a different block, but I already have the 5.3. If I am spending maybe $1000 to make the 5.3 bigger and stronger I'd rather do that then go buy another block and then also machine it.
what are my options, as it seems like the lq4/lq9's are hard to come by around here.
If you're asking about the aluminum blocks, then you need to seriously do some homework. They're sleeved all the time and different vendors offer them all the way up to over 500ci.
Then look at the casting numbers. The last MAGIC numbers you looking for is 043 or 048..
If you have one of those blocks you are all set to have a block dry sleeved by Racing Engine Development.
Are the iron blocks cast the same as the aluminum blocks? I know Darton makes their MID sleeve system for LS blocks, can they be used on iron blocks?
Are there any other companies out there that make sleeves for larger bores on the LS engines? Wanting to look into all my options.

talk to Steve he pioneered the material & process, followed
By erl. Sell your Iron and get 5.3 sleeved, correct #s as
Tusky pointed out. If Iron go LSX.

I would sell at least two iron blocks and put the money towards finding a aluminum block 5.3 or a LS2 block for sleeving for big cubes. I picked up a aluminum short block 5.3 for 450 bucks.... sold the rods, pistons and crank to refund the money so I might have a 100 bucks in the block before sleeving.

You could build one for less $$$ , but for all the hassle of taking to machine shop,
piston fitment, ring grinding, bearing sizes, rods, no need to worry about all that stuff,
It comes to your front door, in a plastic box... and you can keep the box.
