Default Stupid question about chosing a piston

So im looking around for a forged piston for a turbo 4.8 build. I found a 3.780 bore wiseco with valve reliefs on jegs.

They specify that its for a 3.622" stroke. Now i was under the impression that the stroke would not matter and that 4.8 and 5.3 pistons are interchangeable. So my question is, would it work in a 4.8 with the same bore and just a 3.267" stroke?

No. The stroke of the crank and rod length determine the compression height of the piston. So if it is made for a shorter stroke the piston will be below the deck half the difference of the crank stroke.

does it make a difference that the 4.8 has a longer rod to compensate?

the 4.8 rod is longer and the pistons are the same.

Yes it matters. If the rod compensates for the stroke difference then you are good

thanks, one last point i'd like to bring up.
I just did some compression height calculations and got a difference of 0.005" between the two. The height on the 4.8 is the lower of the two so no worries of pistons poking out, and 0.005" seems so small that it should not matter anyway. Whats your opinion on the height difference?

yea that's what i was under the impression always, i guess the site just threw me off since they listed that its only for a 3.622 stroke and 6.098 rod
