Default Budget build Ls1???

What route should i take? Best bang for my buck as far a budget built. Spend between 700-1000 ( 1200 will be pushing it )

Direction???

Cam/springs and a dyno tune. Should be around $1000. Single biggest gain you're going to get.

NITROUS!! Get a $450 single fogger wet kit, then get accessories for it like bottle pressure gauge, TPS activation switch, window switch, etc if you want to fancy it up.

I'd personally go with the innovate psn-1 gauge and use it with the most basic of kits.

Simply put, theres no way to beat the hp per $$ of nitrous

Agreed. But for $700-$1000, you're REALLY pushing it on a nitrous setup.

Car is a 6speed trying gain and lil more it currently had long tube headers exhaust and cold air intake in ordering a bigger throttle body unthinking was a 92mm and Im atleast looking for a LS6 intake.

Don't really wanna sqeeze

$1000 will get you a LONG ways with a kit imo. I love (sarcasm) threads like this where people ask for the best budget option and then immediately get scared of nitrous. If setup correctly, it can be very safe. Plus, you get to maintain that stock drivability and fuel mileage on a street car, and the performance of a race car only when you want it. 150 hp for $1000 is not going to be had any other way.

A cam might net 40-60, heads another 40-60, etc etc. Nitrous (while scary) is the absolute cheapest way to get loads of horsepower, and it has the added benefit of the only option that is able to be turned on and off when you want it.

If you don't want nitrous, or any forced induction, then the only thing left is heads and cam....or an entirely different motor I guess lol. If you are considering the cam route I'd highly suggest at least doing something with your current heads while you're in there anyways. That's just me though

Depending on what year your LS1 is, it might have an LS6 intake on it already.

To check, you can look at the webbing right behind the throttle body. If it has a hole there (even if it's plugged) its and LS1 intake. If there's no hole, it's an ls6. Both intakes love nitrous

How mechanical are you?

If you are mechanically capable, but are on a budget...

Remove heads, buy either a dremel or a carbide cutter. Port intake and exhaust ports on heads to gasket match, google youtube ls1 head porting, then have your heads milled down .20-.30 by a machine shop.

Get a 228R cam, pushrods, ls7 lifters, valvesprings and call it a day. If you buy used springs/pushrods you may have enough left over for a LS6 intake. Should be a lot of fun paired with your current mods.

Is this your daily driver or is it a toy? Too many variables that need to be answered before we point you towards a setup.
