My girlfriends Trans am has a "tinny" noise coming from the lower end with fluttering oil pressure. The one thing I can come up with is that the pickup tube has come loose and is getting smacked by the crank. Is this common in an LS, and has anyone fixed this without removing the engine? Thanks for the help!

The pickup could come loose, I suppose, but the crank won't hit it. The windage tray is in the way.

Automatic? Flexplate will make a noise like that if there is something wrong with it.

It's a manual. The reason I figured on the tube was the fluttering oil pressure. It actually fluctuates in time with the sound. And the sound is that of a thinner piece of metal. Not like a spun bearing or any part of the rotating assembly being lose. Perhaps the windage tray? I will have to keep searching.
