Default LQ4 Iron Heads, any Value?

I bought a LQ4 6.0 core engine a while back, pretty complete, I have finally got around to starting to disassemble it to see exactly why it was replaced, and I knew it had iron heads on it when buying it, now I am wondering if there is any value to them. I thought someone mentioned to me a while back that a certain class of racers are required to run iron heads. I would just assume sell them to somebody that could use them, rather than scrap them out. If there is any value, what is a good price for them?

Some racers are required to run them. Most don't, because the same classes allow ~450 inch big blocks, so the LS doesn't stand a chance.

They're all over craigslist local to me for $50-75/pair.

An iron headed LS motor would be pretty cool if it was carbed and had a distributor... leave the motor all nasty and old looking.

Half the fan boys wouldn't be able to tell it from a SBC.

You probably don't want the crank that came with that motor either.

I have a 2000 LQ4 that was iron headed, what's wrong with the brank in those?

Nothing, you just had to pay attention to the area where the flywheel or
flex plate bolted on, it is a little longer or shorter can't remember.

.400" longer flange. Works fine with A/T, not manual

Somebody in the aftermarket offers an offset flywheel for T56 to work with early LQ4 crank, so it can be done, most folks avoid this crank in their builds.
