Default 243 heads need a cnc

I have a set of 243 heads that I bought springs, retainers, keepers from texas speed to put on them and paid a shop to assemble them. Now I decided to cnc them and called texas speed to see how much to just cnc them with no valve job etc. and they told me they wont do that because its a package deal.Does anybody just cnc heads w/o a valve job and assembly?

No shop worth their name, is gonna put a CNC port job on some heads, only to let the ALL important valve job to be determined by someone else. Engines are just air pumps, and ports can be made to flow a bunch in either direction but everything flows past the valves which are in the way. In other words, a bad valvejob or one not conducive to a particular port job can actually ruin a set of heads. Every CNC port job comes from someone who did the hand work so many F-ing times and paired it with different valve angles to accomplish great flow but also a quality homogenized mixture. Remember, lots of tiny fuel droplets burns faster and cleaner than giant blobs.
Any shop that's not willing to do one without the other has a damn good reason why. #trustthepros

THIS!! It really is not that the shops dont want to deal with a partial job but the VJ is crucial to the port work. We have a scrap bin full of heads with tested VJ that we did not like with our CNC program to find the one that works best. From a good job to the great one is generally more than 10CFM. It is worth it to make sure it is all done by the same place. If we can help you in any way with it please let us know.

Its going to be hard to find a shop that will do what you're asking. Also do your research on proven combinations. The best deal is most certainly not the best performer in most cases. Go with someone with proven results. TEA, AI, TSP, and Frankenstein are all companies with solid results porting the factory castings.

a70oldscutlass,

If you absolutely don't want a valve job, ship em to us, and we'll knock it out for $750.

To maximize the potential of the CNC program the valve job is developed with it. For $950, we will do the valve job as well.

Let us know what we can do to make it happen for ya!

Holy ****, is that for both heads? Anymore details on the heads themselves like chamber size or valve size or anything? That seems like an amazing deal, might just have to sell my heads now and pick up a set of these.

Well yeah, I have a set of TEA heads but they're kinda mystery heads and CC's and stuff. I'd rather sell them off and buy a cheap set of 243's and go this route

Thanks for the replies.A couple of you were nice enough to try and help me out and if I decide to finish this motor and sell it I will try to buy the parts from you to build the next one.I guess I will just put this motor together because it would cost me more money in these heads than if I just started over, thanks

whatsa347,

The $950 quote would have been us re using his aftermarket kit.

If you grab a set of stock 243s and ship them to us. We'll put our spring package along with a CNC valve job, CNC port, hand blend, surface and re assembly for $1250.

If you want an upgraded set of valves and a bigger port, along with the rest listed above. We can do that for $1650.

If you have any other questions or want to get specific to your build. Ask away, call or message us!
