Default Different exhaust/intake lifter preload. Any harm?

Hello,

Upon machine work on my 243 heads, and moving from stock lifters to morel 5290's I now have two different pushrod measurements.

Intake = 7.247
Exhaust = 7.236

I'm thinking of running 7.275 pushrods with a resulting preloads of .028 and .039.

Any harm in having 2 different preload values?

As long as you are in the preload spec range of the lifter then you are fine. That being said I have seen it mentioned that a engine with the same preload across all lifters makes for a more responsive motor. Not sure how much tuth there is to that but I figured I would mention it.

I have 2 different preload measurements going on with my engine as well. I am thinking about going back through it again and getting different length push rods to close the difference so its less then .005. Right now I am about .015 difference.

I was doing this measurement on the cylinder that had my "checker" Springs installed. I moved to a cylinder that has my prc .650 duals installed and re measured. I came up with. 7.260. With both intake and exhaust being close to one another. Repeated the process on the other bank. Same measurements , right around 7.260. Something with the checker springs was screwing up the measurements. Lesson learned.

Was that after a valve job?
