No I went with the 227/235
This is going to be my first car with a cam and I was afraid of going to big. Live and learn I guess. I'm sure I'd be happy with either. Just looking for more of a fun factor rather than breaking any records.

heard great things with the one too. I don't blame ya, I'm not either, just wanted my power to carry above 6500 and be a real good contender with the big *** cam guys that are put together wrong lol.

That is only a issue if you are planning on running a large camshaft. 61-62cc 243's would more then likely have no PTV issues with a 227/235(good choice on can BTW!!).

I agree they are a solid value, not knocking at all.

That cam is fine with those heads. Those heads are strong.

I have a set of 241s laying around that I have thought about sending off for the HCR treatment. If I grab another F-Body I might do that to reduce downtime.

Ok so I'm to the point of pulling the oil pump off. I loosened all ten bolts around the top of the oil pan. I've been prying on it but it won't budge. Any advice?

Did you remove the 2 horizontal bolts that come in from the bell housing?

Hey thanks king! I didn't have those out. Got them this morning and still stuck on there. I loosened all 10 around the top then the 2 in the bell housing and can't get it to budge.

The only other two bolt on the pan are on the very bottom by the Bell housing going up into the pan. Do those need to come out or loosened?

Well that did it! And I got the pickup tube bolt no problem. I don't think I've ever been more nervous in my life. I was shaking like a leaf and I don't think I took a breath for two minutes! I heard of i guy tying a piece of string to the bolt putting it back on and tying the other end to the sway bar. From here on out its putting new parts on. The fun part!

Alright so I've finished up with the heads and I'm getting ready to cut that bump out of the valley for the ls6 cover. I was looking towards where the rear of the cover would go and it looks like there is two sensors. Sorry I'm kinda of a noob and don't know what they are exactly. My question though is the one that sticks up a couple inches should that one be sterdy or can it move around? I noticed mine laying over a bit.

Valley cover is on and actually wasn't that bad to do. Intake isn't on yet because I was trying to see if I could swing a FAST but I don't see it happening this year. Pushrods came in the mail the other day. It won't take much to finish it up if I could find the time. I still need to find a coolant plug for the passenger head. I'll pry finish it some time in the next week or two. Before it goes on the rollers I have to replace the fuel pump, two bent rear axles, and more than likely the stock clutch. So it will pry be around March before I have numbers.

I'm running a set of the AI 226 243's.

I had an AI 236/242 .630/.630 cam, and it quite honestly underperformed. Best trap speed of 122.8 and ET of 11.26.

Last winter I swapped to an off the shelf SNS2 (227/235) and absolutely smashed the AI cam in track performance. Trapped 124 in the heat on a nitrous tune (22 total timing) and dropped ET 2 tenths. On a 100 shot trapped 131.88 and best ET of 10.65. I love the AI 243 and SNS2 combo. Drives great and flies at the track!

Well that's reassuring! I've only found a hand full of AI & SNS2 combos on here. Those are damn good numbers!

I would love a time slip in the 10s on a 100 shot.

Subscribing.. ill be doing my build soon so this will be helpful.. do the headers need to be totally removed to have enough room to work on the heads?

I went with different headers so mine were coming out anyways. Idk if it's possible to leave them in but I will say it's nice having all the room you can get in there.

Did you disconnect them from the Y-pipe? I have been able to get all but the back lower drivers side head bolt undone with them still connected. I think I can get the back one out but I broke my deep well socket and needed to get a new one.
