Default Balancing rotating assembly

Are the rotating assemblies in the LS motors internally or externally balanced? Trying to figure out if I need my fw and harmonic damper ready when I take my motor to the machine shop.

Default LS-Balancing

There is NO key way in the OEM crankshaft for dampener position.

I always install a "mark" on BOTH the crank snout/dampener/timing cover AND flywheel crank hub/rear seal plate.

This is done after the pistons are placed, 3/5 equal distance from deck.

MY reason is a requirement for TDC "trim" used for MY ECU to allow for correct Spark Advance.

The balance shop should balance the crank alone, then "add" the flywheel and dampener.

This process NEEDS to then have both flywheel/dampener "indexed" to the crankshaft to be of benefit.
