Good to see you have it coming together. Did you have the block sonic checked? Most of the 4.8/5.3 blocks are aok to bore but some have some real bad core shift and the bore would be really thin if an additional .050+ is pulled out. In the case of a block I was gonna bore the number 8 cylinder only had .167 on the thrust side of cylinder wall in the middle of the bore. Way too thin for anything with any beans to it if you took .050+ out on each side. As you can see this block had quite a bit of variation on some of the cylinders.

Thanks Duke250, been a long battle but I believe I only have A/C and Powersteering to do for the engine, got all the topside stuff in today, coil harness, a/c bracket bolts, thermostat and thermostat housing, pcv hose should be in tomorrow and that should finish up top engine stuff.

I ended up going with a different shop than I originally said in this thread earlier, and we ended up going with a 3.898 bore size, Mahle was the only one I could find that made pistons with that size and it would bring it to the 5.7 I wanted. With that said, he explained there was still plenty of cylinder wall so I would be fine. Cylinder 2 might have a bit of variation in it because during piston install, one of the oil rings bent and scratched the wall the length of the stroke. After that hiccup I had him come back out and smooth out that cylinder, so not sure how that is going to react, but if anything causes an issue there I am just going to sleeve that cylinder.
