5.3 t56 question

5.3 t56 question So I recently swapped a t56 in my 92 s10 behind a 5.3. My question is how do you know you have the input shaft inside of the pilot bearing without actually looking inside of it? I feel like when I mated the transmission in the bell housing that I ended up pushing the pilot bearing all the way in the crank instead of the correct placement. I couldn't get the transmission to come flush with the bell housing when I was installing it and ending up using the bolts to suck in the gap. Now when I get off the clutch I hear lots of rattle. It also happens when I shut the engine off. Any thoughts?
I'm not very familiar with t56s but I am with BMWs, mainly mini cooper's, and most that I see with a rattling throughout bearing, it's either not seated right, or bearing is not functioning properly and usually ruined. hopefully t56 experts can chime in
That pilot bearing is a snug press fit. I doubt u can push it in to the crank with the input shaft. Depending on how hard or if u bend and twist the Trans while trYing to force it to seat you can damage the input shaft. It's possible it could b the input shaft bearing or a number of other things.

It didn't take much to tighten the bolts in when I installed it but it seems to run fine also. I do have a small whine but I think that's inside the tranny. I turned each bolt a few turns all the way around before it completely seated on the bell housing. It wasn't too much of a gap, maybe about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with this? Could you explain please. I thought all you needed to do is bleed the slave and you're good
