Default scratched head surface

How big of an issue will this scratch be. I just picked these heads up and noticed this. Picture looks a lot worse than it really is.

Coolant goes through that hole right next to it, and looking at a head gasket I have next
to me, looks like your scratch might pass on both sides of the sealing surface, allowing coolant to escape.
Worse thing you would have to do is have it welded up and resurfaced, or just having it
surfaced some might fix it, depending on how deep it is. I am way to paranoid to leave
something like that alone, easier to fix now. My .02

They can be welded if needed or there is some other product, I think is like an epoxy that can be put on there.

Photos can be deceiving, but that looks pretty bad. Any idea of the depth? You may need to mill the heads or do weld repair as previously suggested to get that out. I would talk to a competent head shop and if you don't have one locally send the photo to one of the forum vendors and get their input.

I'm going to drop them off at the machine shop tomorrow and see what they say. The picture looks a lot worse than they really are. Its more of a scrape than a gouge. Hopefully a .015 mill will do the trick. And more and I will have to flycut.
