Building a 700+ HP LS6 and need some input
I purchased and LS6 out of a 2004 z06 corvette. It has 85k miles and I am swapping it into a pro touring 78 Trans am. I have read more posts and articles than I care to count on how to make my HP goal.
The question is:
I don't plan to add forced induction right away so, What should be done to the engine in preparation for turbo/supercharger that won't need to be revisited again?

Do you have an Idea on what type of forced induction you want to go with ? Turbo, centrifugal supercharger, roots style blower ??? If you were dead set on what road your taking the advice would better. Sure you can turbo/supercharge any engine but the set up could be far from optimal, and there is a difference between a turbo motor and a blower motor.

With the long term goals you've mentioned, I would want to put in a fresh set of stock LS6 factory valve springs in and check the rockers as preventive maintenance. New spark plugs and wires too because they are almost due. Check the throttle body and may be clean it. Change the oil. Check the PVC system. Then i would enjoy the motor for a while.
I wouldn't start modding until you decide what direction to you forced induction wise.
