replace knock sensors/harness or delete them? boosted 5.3
Stock 99 5.3 with 150k and has 12lbs of boost via a centrifugal supercharger. Engine this winter is getting a custom cam from cam motion, same pulley, ported stock 862 heads with .600 howards behive springs. Going from knotched 862s to MLS with ARP head bolts. Lifters are going to be morel 5315s with stock pushrods or moly 5/16" and LS2 trays. Stock truck intake, LS1 billet fuel rails and 72lb bosch injectors.
Engine is only street driven and driven hard at times on 93 pump gas (cheap ****) and has a FMIC and 750ml of meth/water injection. Tuned by me with HPT pro and WB02. Ive done logs and with the 2bar SD OS system I'm never reading any knock. Either they are shot (prob the case) or they are turned off in the OS? Well since I'm pulling everything I was contemplating deleting the knock sensors and getting a $30 cover plate. Vs the $150 for new AC delco sensors and new harness (jesus).
What do you guys think? is it safe? I know they only can help the engine but not my wallet. My tune is pretty conservative at 18* at WOT and a smidge rich on the A/F.
