Default LS383 what heads ?

I just built a LS383 with 11.3 compression, now I'm questioning should I keep my ported 243's with LS6 intake with a nitrous outlet money maker.Or should I save and spend $2000+ difference on trickflow 220's and 102/102 setup ??? Am I leaving a lot of power on the table with the stuff I have already ?

Already have new specd cam 248/252,605/600,113+3
PTC 4000 stall,built 4l60
3.42 gears for street duty
I also use nitrous 200ish on progressive
3500lb car + heavy driver

I think you'll make more power with nitrous.

Oh ok then. It sounded like it was one or the other.

TFS 220's and a FAST 102 are definitely going to make more power than 243's and an LS6. You'll have more room to grow in the future as well since both the FAST and TFS heads can be ported more extensively than the OEM hardware.

How much hp & tq does the car make now?

The money maker is currently set for 200hp and can support 400hp? I dont think an 102 TB, LSXR & new aftermarket heads will gain more power than jetting up. Provided the 383 is built and set with the correct ring gap to take the bigger shot. The current set up would also fly under the radar better it seems.

I know I can make more power with up to a 400 shot I sprayed a 300 on the stock 346 this fall. The 383 build is brand new haven't bolted the heads on yet is why I made this thread its a new build. I was gonna spray it no matter what setup I have.

I think there is defintely a lot left on the table running an ls6 intake.. but if you are just going to spray massive amounts of nitrous at it, why waste the money for an extra 30-40 HP when you can just simply move from a 350 shot to a 400 shot (for example) and get the same gains? lol

If you are going for max effort and if budget is not an issue, you should defintely upgrade the heads and do a ported 102.

BTW, i'd be curious to see what a 400 shot of nitrous feels like lol.. gotta be insane!

On that note, I think the $2000+ of new parts would get you 30-40 hp and maybe a little more hp from the NOS shot. If 30 to 40 hp more matters on what appears to be a 425-450 hp at wheels NA set with a 400 shot NOS set up, ie 825 to 850 hp wheel set up sure go for the new parts. If the car hooks well and can lay the power down get the new parts. If the car would benefit from weight reduction or suspension upgrades, I would do that over new heads.

BTW TEA has a NOS exhaust port for LS6 heads that works well if you decided to keep your current ported LS6 heads and want to upgrade them.

ok so I'm new to this forum thing. But anyway ls1 blew up honing it .005 over and putting a 4" forged crank with 6.125 rods blah blah it will be a fully forged bottom end 383 stroker. I'm looking to get at least 500whp n/a is that possible this is not DD only weekend warrior and track/street racing. Any ideas

It's certainly possible. There's a dyno results section where you can see the combos other members have built. That should give you some ideas to build on.
