Default Heads and Cam: Narrowed Down to 2 cams??

I think i have my cam choice narrowed down to two different cams based on what I want to do with the car. (80% street 20%track)

2000 LS1 stock bore and stroke, ported and polished 241 heads by Reher Morrison, LS6 intake ported for 85TB for now( fast 102 coming later), M6

Cam#1 Lunati Voodoo 232/238 .599.601 LSA: 113

Cam #2 Comp Grind 230/234 .600/.602 LSA: 111

just wanted some thoughts before i made a purchase.

thanks

Both seem pretty good, what is ur rpm limit you wanna stay at, that voodoo will be right around 7000rpm where as that comp will prolly rev to 6500.

I'm still pretty new to this but those 2 cams seem pretty close to me. The pros will likely want to know if you have any exhaust mods. 3:42 gears right?

I would opt for a superior product.

I ran a Cam Motion 230/238 113+3 .620"/.602" with ported/milled 799s and that combo worked great.

If you are real serious about 80% street part then this would be even better unless your heads are going to be milled for compression bump over stock: http://store.cammotion.com/the-titan4

My roommate runs the Titan IV and it's got power under the curve for days but still runs it's *** off up top.

Valve springs are good to 7k but would feel better shifting around 6500
The 111 lsa of the comp would bring in the power earlier correct?

i agree with thunderstruck, Cam Motion for the Win!
Better materials and customer service. Wouldn't
consider comp or voodoo after my great experience &
results with Kip @ Cam Motion.

Thunderstruck, I hope my 230/236 .620/.603 112+2 sounds like yours lol.. very nice! Any #''s or times? I am also on a cam motion core, specd by martin.. I agree on the quality of customer service that cam motion offers.. high quality product also!

OP I think you should definitely do the 230/234 111 LSA or something similar to keep the power band a little lower.. I think peaking around 7k would be a little much for 80% street driven, but that's just an opinion.. it would be harder on the bottom end also unless you have it upgraded.

I'd look into the Streetsweeper HT as well, or at least give Ed Curtis at Flowtech Inductions a call or email, he's basically the man when it comes to valvetrain. That being said, you literally can't go wrong with what anyone else in here has suggested, they'll all yield great results.

The video above is my roommates trans am. No numbers yet as it needs either fuel pump or injectors or both. It goes lean in the upper RPMs now and adding more fuel in the tune doesn't correct it.

It's a beast down low and through the midrange with no signs of stopping though.

Orphan,

Definitely give TSP a call... Im running TSP 233/239 on 112, along with Livernois LS6 heads. Car is a daily driver..easily drivable.

my first cam was a 230 duration cam. Now i run TSP 233/239.. No regrets.

cant tell any difference honestly. As long as you got a great tuner you will be fine.

The TSP 233/239 is about the biggest cam i would run in a daily driver.

you will be very happy with the 233/239.
