Building budget 5.3 So I'm new to the forum, I'm currently putting a 5.3 togther for my 01 camaro. I have a few questions I hope I can get so.ever help lol. First are my 243 heads worth putting on the 5.3? My second is, is it worth swapping the truck cam out for a Z06 cam?
Here is an article that compares the various stock LS cams installed into a 5.3 and shows power numbers. seems that there would be some benefit.

as far as the 243 heads, they will flow better. I am going to be using 799 heads on my 5.3 which supposedly are from the same castings as the 243.
You will lose some compression though.
