Talking Finally Finally Doing It!!!

Well, after bugging everybody on site for months, I'm finally taking the big plunge and ordering my cam tomorrow. I'm going w/ the TR "Old Man" cam which is a 215/220 .600/.523 on a 115. I know I'm going to get flamed a bit for how small it is, (LMAO something I'm used to ) but I live in Cali, so emissions is a concern, and I don't have the funds to rack her up w/ a good tuner. For the record though, how much does it cost for a good tune. I live in San Diego BTW. Again, thanks to everybody. JRP in particular, but I've gotten a LOT of good advice from a LOT of people (Really too many to list).

Hey don't worry about the others here, I respect your decision to do things your way. I am researching similar cams, any reason you did not go with the GT2-3 cam, was is even considered or? I'm looking for something along the lines of what you purchased. Best of luck!
Regards,
John

Yes, I did look at the GT-2-3 cams. In fact, I was just talking to someone about them tonight. The reason I went w/ the Old Man, was because it is the biggest I've seen around that can still be transparent to daily driving. The GT-2 is invisible also (except for power of course), and it's $100 cheaper, but it's much smaller than the TR. The GT-3 is closer, but by then it's $100 more expensive and still not as much cam. My goal is to have my car feel totally stock when cruizin to work or driving to the store, but wake up like a monster when something revs up on me. Sleeper all the way for this guy.

I know what you mean. I did the same thing with the 'Sleeper'. Although I went more along the lines of Colonels' original idea. And my cam does exactly what you just stated. I am still on stock manifolds and at idle, unless you know what to listen for, you can't even hear it. Even with the cut out open. But as soon as I go WOT you can really feel the power. And people on the outside of the car have said that it doesn't sound stock but it also doesn't sound cammed. Just what I want.

My specs are 224/220 .581/.581 116LSA I am still on my stock tune also. I know someone with a HPTuner and they raised my rev limiter but that's about it. And there is plenty of power there, I can't wait until I can affod headers!!!

There is alot of fun to be had with the sleeper cams, not only will streetability not be sacrificed but people won't know what hit em and you can tell them its stock

Talked to Jeff down at TR, and placed my order. Should be here next week. My engine is no longer being rebuilt, it is being replaced!! Yeah!! Will I get the newer version of the LS1? If memory serves, the '01-02 years had a few more horsepower than 00 and earlier. Right or wrong?

Hey, every little bit helps. Thanks 44mag. That LS6 intake will save me another $300 at least. ... If the 01-02 had the LS6 intake manifold, why do they only put out 5 more hp? I thought that manifold was supposed to be worth more like 15?

Congrats on the cam. I'm in Cali to so I know how it goes, but as you can tell, that hasn't stopped me

LS6 intake making 15 hp on a stock motor is a crock. It can make 15 on a cammed motor.
