Default Rocker choices

My build is done for the most part. 382ci stroker with prc 225's and a callies 240/248 .615/.615 114+3 lsa. I am currently running stock rockers with the straub trunions installed. I do eventually want to step up to a quality roller rockers. What will be needed or can i literally bolt them on?
Which do you guys recommend as a fairly good budget roller rocker on my set up?

The stock rockers will be fine with bronze bushings. It's very expensive to do the valve train correctly and it's only needed if you are spinning the motor to 8,000+ RPM. You can't go wrong with Jesel if you insist on doing it.

If you have bronze valve guides, I like the Yella Terra's. If you have powdered metal valve guides stay with what you have. If you go to Yella Terra's, you need to verify the wipe pattern and then measure for pushrods.

If you haven't done so already, larger OD pushrods will help with either rocker setup.

I've read where one of the most highly regarded cylinder head experts Tony Mamo says the stock rocker side loads the valve at high lifts. If I understood correctly, this can accelerate guide wear, reduce longevity and have slightly reduce lift compared to a quality roller rocker.
It seems Tony favors Yella Terra in most of this build that I've seen on the forum. Vettenutts makes excellent points.

My experience, has been 120,000+ trouble free miles with heads & XE-R cam on the stock rockers on my 99 TA. Total of 155,xxx miles total, lot's of fun with car. I may have been lucky. The cam is a 224 with .581 lift. I imagine the valve guides do have some wear.

My other LS car the 91 RS got a set of Jesel shaft mounted roller rockers. The T&D sets are also very nice but were too much overkill for my mild application.

I plan to try Yella Terra ultra lights on my next engine build. At the 2016 PRI show I had a nice long conversation with one of the YT enginners. I think the YT ultra light is top notch and YT answered all of questions about the product.

Jesel, T&D and Yella Terra are the cream of the crop from what I've seen when correctly installed. With under .600 lift I'm pretty comfortable with the stock rocker in most cases for my LS engines. My .02 worth...best wishes.

Good post and yes that's exactly correct....

There is no choice in this matter in regards to which way to go. The Yella Terra are affordable (half the price of the other two systems mentioned) and they work a bunch better. The beefier Jesel and T&D stuff is more aimed at a solid roller valvetrain....the added heft in a hyd roller set-up would actually cause valve control issues at higher RPM and you just spent a small fortune in rocker gear to make less power (and you wouldn't have been the first to make that mistake)

I stock Yella Terra rockers for ALL the LS engines....I know the correct shim thickness to optimize their geometry (and I stock the various shims as well). If you guys need any help with the valvetrain reach out and I will make it extremely easy for you by sending you everything you need to optimize it....just install and go

I actually worked directly with Yella Terra on the original design in 2004 and have a very good working relationship with the company....good people....excellent products

Cheers,
Tony

225s come with PM guides... and that cam doesn't have high enough lift to causes issues. Once you approach .630+ or .650+ you need to be more mindful. But as it is, the guides will last longer than your shortblock will (especially with 2618 pistons).

Just stay with what you have. Stock rockers will be fine on that setup. They are light and strong.
