Default Trick Flow LS1 cams...

Has anyone tried them? They have a 216/220 .560 lift cam, looks a tad bit more aggressive than the Comp XR269. I'm pretty sure the XR269 would be a good street cam.

Would you match with stock 243 or ported?

That's is one hell of an open ended question. Jegs sells a very similar cam very cheap.

Doesn't JEGS own Trick Flow now?

The 216 cam is a pretty mild street cam. I've used a few of them in 4.8s.
The 228/230 Trick Flow is better for an LS1. You can make 400 wheel with that one.

Default Camshaft Lobe Center

Hi, what is the Lobe Center specification ?

I would HOPE it was 116-118 for your needs with a small 216 Intake Lobe.

The MOST important specification is the Intake Close Degrees # @ .050".

I would use "ported" as flow will be increased without low end torque loss of a larger lobe.

I see that the sponsor of this sub section Texas Speed have a Camshaft that is 216/220 .600"/.600" 112.

They list it as a Truck Cam. I actually have a Comp Cam of the exact same spec in my 5.7 Holden Monaro and with ported 241 heads it performs well in the low to mid range but I would imagine it would disappoint those looking for huge top end. I chose it as a street cam though for a heavy car. It has a bit of shake although I had it tuned to be more quiet in that regard.

So I think a cam of this spec could suit some buyers but I am now looking to try something different, same emphasis on smooth street use in a heavy car but making use of the new lobe technology that exists since I bought the Comp. This cam has a pretty noisy valvetrain. As mentioned in another thread I am considering the CamMotion TORQUE TITAN II LS camshaft, 218/226 .595 .587 116, although its interesting that I can't find anyone on forums that has used that cam.

That camshaft is a new grind for us. It was developed for customers who wanted more power throughout the entire RPM range, but did not want to give up stock street manners and drivability. One of the cool things about this camshaft is that it works great with stock torque converters. We put on in the owner's "headers and exhaust" LS3 Corvette and he absolutely loves it for a daily driver. We call it a "no sacrifice" camshaft.

Thank you for the reply, ah, its a new grind. As far as I am aware no one in Australia sells CamMotion or EPS so I never hear about them until I venture onto this site so I didn't realise.

It actually sounds like something that would give me what I am chasing with stock street manors and drivability but would you still recommend such a cam for an LS1 powered car with a manual trans, all bolt ons, ported 241 heads and a 3.9 rear end? Or is it really aimed at the newer engined cars?

THR in Adelaide is Cam Motion dealer. Brenton Marusic there can hook you up.

It works great in manual transmission cars. There is no low RPM bucking that you would get with larger cams. It is no dyno hero camshaft, but it drives like a dream and makes more power than the stock cam throughout the entire RPM range.

Excellent! Thank you. I am surprised someone here stocks these cams, i will look them up and see about shipping to Sydney. I also couldn't care less about a dyno result, I'm really chasing the other benefits

Back in 2011 I ran an EPS 218/226 .595"/.598" @ 117 in my stick vette;
drove entirely stock....made broad torque and carried well to 6700 rpms
Only drawback was the Comp ground lobes were noisy. In Fact EPS now has Cam Motion grind his cams.
With that being said; If you're not after hero numbers or some racy idle but really demand pure stock drivability, then this is the perfect cam...

Thank you for this post, very helpful, it confirms that this should be the cam for me.

EPS has a 222/226 grind. There is a guy on youtube who takes it to the track and runs some laps and it pulls hard. Im considering that grind. https://youtu.be/qLo88XnFuFA

Should be good in an auto. I personally am not considering anything with an intake over 218 for my manual 5.7 LS1. If I had one of the newer engines I would choose differently though.
