Default Smoking Vette, literally.

Comp cam and headers.. everything else it stock. What do you think this smoke is from?
some background; used motor purchased and installed and heads were cleaned up with new springs, seals and retainers. The bottom end was sprayed with wd40 when bought. Belongs to a friend who says he didn't notice the smoke when he drop it to me. MAP sensor code, replace and the car idled a bit better but still could hear some lean popping but main issue is the SMOKE.

Do a compression test? Is it loosing coolant or oil?

It could be a head gasket, valve seals, blow by from the rings.. could be quite a few things.

I've done several LS top end builds and every one of them smoked like that on first start. Smelled like burning wood fire actually. First one I did was the worst by far. All those cleaning solvent residues, oils, etc. I checked oil for coolant, checked coolant for oil, compression check, etc. decided to just start it up again and let it run. About twenty minutes later it had basically stopped. Next day, did it again briefly. By day three it had quit altogether.
