Buying an oil starved engine - What could go wrong?
I found an LS1 engine that was in a roll over accident, causing the engine to starve of oil and put a rod through the block, but is basically priced for the cost of the accessories on it.
Obviously the block is going to be pretty much toast, but I am wondering if there would be possible issues with the cylinder heads as well or any other parts of the engine? What do you guys think? What can/should be checked?

Depends on the year... if it has an LS6 intake that'd be worth it. To use or sell.
But if you needed like a new PS pump or AC Compressor and those were in better shape, it'd be worth it.
Or even another oil pan or balancer. Those could be sold. Motor mounts might be in good shape? Different things that could fetch $25-30 a piece could be pulled off the motor and sold on the forum to make it worth pulling.
There's lot of things that could still be salvaged off the engine.

Personally, I am hoping that at least the cylinder heads are good, which is the only other major item besides the engine that really requires oil.
I agree, it may be worth it for all of the little items alone that I would probably need for my bare block engine swap.
