Default oil pressure?
I recently acquired a 2004 1500 swb stepside with a 4.8/auto... my question is, if a motor is showing no oil pressure on the factory gauge and it idles rough and dies occasionally but doesn't have any weird or abnormal sounds coming from the engine, what could cause this? lifters cause this?

The gauge or sender could be bad.

I had a blown out Oring on the oil pump pick up tube that drop the oil pressure to near zero at idle...

Get yourself a mechanical gauge to verify. Cheap and a good tool to have around.
