Default lq4 piston choices

Hi all I have not been on here in along time. But I have a question that I hope could be answered. I unfortunately ran my new motor with no oil. I, as well as my wife, will never forgive me. Long story short I was being kicked out of the shop I was working on my car at and I was under the gun and working on no sleep and stress. Still don't forgive myself! But cutting to the point, I am rebuilding it. It is a 2001 lq4. I would like to run lq9 flat top pistons in it but I do not know if it is compatible since the Lq9 came out later. Am I mistaken in that 2001 lq4 might be a bastard year of transition? Thanks

Yes, they're compatible. If you ran it out of oil, it probably needs a whole new rotating assembly. If you scored the entire LQ9 or LS2 rotating assembly, that would alleviate some headaches. Might just need a reluctor swap.
