Default Oil Pressure Gauge Startup Question

The one gauge I keep my eye glued to on startup is the oil pressure gauge.

Is it normal for the oil pressure gauge needle to move just above the two smaller red tick marks and pause, for a split second, then jump on up to normal oil pressure during startup?

Maybe I am paying too much attention to the gauge and am seeing things

Thanks

As long as it doesn't take more than a few seconds to get to normal there should not be a problem.

My WS6 does the same every time, The 5 other Ls1 cars I've owned didn't do it. It could be electrical or mechanical. Only way to know for sure is to install another oil pressure gauge to compare them at startup. Do you have any lifters noise or engine noise at start up?

What does it do if you turn it off after a min or so and restart it? What does it do on a warm restart?

I have a clunking sound temporarily which is probably the famous piston slap until the car warms up: it goes away when the engine warms up.

While watching some videos of ls1 oil pressure gauges on startup, I noticed most of them went from zero to normal pressure in one swoop without hesitation. They did, however, go from zero to normal slower than mine does.

I was just curious and am not going to worry too much about it. Eventually, I'll install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge I can monitor from the cockpit.

Also, I will check out a restart later today and see what happens.

The oil pump is a ported ls6 pump which would also explain the difference.

Thanks!

I checked mine and it seems to do it cold or hot.
