engine size calculation again
I tried finding this using a search, I know I saw it before, but cant seem to find it. Whats the formula again?
say 4.125 bore, stock stroke (3.622 right?)
say 4.125 bore, stock stroke (3.622 right?)

Re: engine size calculation again
Bore X Bore X Stroke X .7854 X Number of cylinders = C.I.D.
In your case I come up with 387.23 inches!

Re: engine size calculation again
All you're really doing is calculating the volume of one cylinder and then multipling that by the total number of cylinders. The volume of a cylinder is height times the area of one end. The area of one end is just the area of a circle, or pi*r**2. Since the bore is diameter instead of radius, you have to divide it by 2. Factoring out the 2 from the squared term, you get 4. pi/4 = .7854. I just thought you might want to know where that formula came from.

Re: engine size calculation again
Ok that makes sense, my problem was that I was in fact doing pi*r^2 x height(stroke), and I was using the diameter of the bore instead of the radius and coming up with like 7000ci, which obviously wasnt right.
Thanks for the info again!

Damn!
My 524 stroker only has a 4.125 stroke!
