Default AFR230 Heads, What YT Rocker????

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I currently own a VY Maloo (Australian) with a 430RWHP LS1, it's got AFR230 heads, 232/234 comp cam, full Hurricane 3" exhaust with extractors, OTR and a 255 in tank pump. In the pursuit of 500RWHP, while trying to maintain reliability during this course I opted to buy some Yella Terra Roller Rockers.

I've spent the last few hours trying to Google-fu an answer but for the life of me I can't find it.

My question is;

Can I use the YT6645 1.7 8mm Rockers on this AFR230 head?
Or do I have to use the YT6640 1.7 7/16" Rockers...Which will be painful because I'll have to adjust them to suit and buy Cover spacers...oh and they cost 500AUD more..

Appreciate your help and apologies if there is a post regarding this matter that I didn't find.

Mark.

You'll want the 8mm version. Either way you'll need the thicker valve cover gaskets which will be enough for clearance. YT makes those too.

Being very honest, you don't have enough cam to hit 500. Assuming we're talking about a 5.7 since we're in the gen3 forum.

On my mobile I don't see the sigs, so I don't know the rest of your build details. I did get there on a 5.7 NA and it was NOT easy.

Awesome! Thanks for your reply Darth!
Yeah mate its a 5.7.
Maybe a more realistic figure would be 450-475 on that cam?
Honestly at 430rwhp it's pretty damn quick, especially in a ute.
Though the inner demons always call for more power...=D

Yeah, 450-470 is doable on that cam. You'll need really good induction and exhaust. 3" dual would go a long way to getting you there. That and the right intake, and you can do it. Electric water pump would help also.

He's got the heads to do it, that much is certain. He'd need a cam with 240*+@.050 IMO, and all of what is mentioned above.
