Leak stop questions?
He said that he always puts leak stop in any engine that he rebuilds because the head gaskets are not always perfect and leak stop helps with that.
Any prior expierence with leak stop or comments will be greatly appreciated.
One takes a coolant sample with the engine idling and mixes it with the test compound. If the color changed one has an exhaust leak into the coolant.
They say the chemical test is about 90% accurate in catching head gasket leaks.
Lisle has one.
NAPA has a kit for this too.
Also 4th Gen's have radiators with plastic sides that are crimped onto the radiator center core. One of my friends discovered his radiator was leaking and it wasn't obvious.
Radiator cap and over flow are also good to check.
Heater core and radiator hoses as well.
I would find out what's going on before adding Stop Leak.
I have heard of testing for exhaust gas in the coolant, which I plan on doing soon.
Thanks,
Curtis

I have seen something similar before, leak at WOT only. It was the radiator "yawning" due to increased water pump pressure. I also had another car that leaked and I could never find it. Turned out to be the thermostat gasket. Only reason I found it was a headlight went out and when I got home to change it I could detect a faint coolant smell. It was leaking and then burning off so I never saw any puddling.
