Default .045 or .060 valve spring shim question

Hello! Recent bought a corvette with an LS1 block and LS6 243 heads. It had patriot racing valve springs in it and wanted to replaced with the BTR .660 for piece of mind. I ordered the kit from BTR assuming it had stock guides in it. Got it apart and found the guides have been replaced with bronze guides.

When I removed the locator/shim, the ID is slightly larger than the one that came with the BTR kit. The other thing is the BTR kit for stock guides comes with .060 thickness. The ones that came on the car are .045. I see you can order the BTR with a stock ID at .045 thick.

My my question is has anyone run the .660 platinum springs with a .045 shim? It has a speed inc SI6 cam in it.

Any suggestions if I should reuse the old shim?

Thanks.

Default

Could do that and double check the installed height then perhaps pop some -.050" valve locks to get the right pressures.
