Default Stock Lifter Preload for 228R?

TSP suggests .060 -. 080" preload on stock lifters paired with a 228R. I am running stock heads and dual springs. Does this sound right?

I am shooting to minimize sewing machine noise. According to TSP .070 would be nominal.

I ordered 7.4" PRs with their kit but I am going to check with Comp Cams PR checker to verify.

I run .075" pre load and my valve train is quiet with Ls7 lifters

.075 is where i have found the most quiet valvetrains. Every cam is different though and noise will vary. The main thing to try and do is check your wipe pattern.

Agree with above. I aim for .08" with mine as well. Give or take a few and you should be fine. measure all or most of the intake/exhaust valve preload to make sure you get them dialed in between those specs. Don't assume they'll all measure out the same as it depends on any head work that may have been done that can drastically change from valve to valve.
