Default Gen IV rods in a Gen III, will gen III pistons work

I havent been on this forum in years so I figured id ask a few questions I had here

I'm putting a gen III 6.0 in my car, but im using gen IV 5.3 rods, correct me if I'm wrong but Ive heard they will work, now my question is will Gen III pistons work or is it even worth trying? should I just hope I come across some GenIV pistons or just buy aftermarket?

i have gen III 6.0 rods and pistons laying around is why im asking and i know gen III rods are like a weak link, and im looking to make 800-1000, car made 700 with a junk genIII 5.3

Gen3 pistons will not work on gen4 rods. They have to have locks to keep the pins in the pistons since they float. You can have them machined for that but its pricey.

As an alternative we do have a brand new set of lq4 pistons that will work with gen4 OR gen3 rods. they take std rings also.
Pistons are $200 shipped. they are hyper e and have a coated skirt. They come with pins and locks also. std bore.

Sure thing! we actually have em 2 ways
Both stock bore. and we have an extra set of rings. the lq9 flat tops have a hard anodized face as well as coated skirt.

Lq4 dished

Lq9 flat top
