Is it possible to remove the enging while leaving the bell and trans in the car
Do to limited space in storage I want to leave the trans in the car. Ive pulled the motor plenty of times over but always pulled the trans and bell first. Is there enough room to get the input shaft out of the clutch and lift the motor out? Everything is out of the engine bay.

Referenced this, 7 posts down "titanium" mentions he took his t56 out no problem with motor. I have an a4 and from what I have found so long as Motor and engine bay are clear you should have enough room

If you have removed all the cooling system, A/C condenser, etc. from the front, how much room is there to move the engine forward to clear? That will tell you.

yes it can be done, I just did it 2 weeks ago with a a4. took the motor out the top with everything removed from the front of the engine except crank pulley...which now I would suggest also removing it to make it a lot easier. just be sure to block up the trans before pulling the motor from it

He has a manual trans, and his main concern is the mainshaft clearing the engine as it is lifted.
