Default 5.3 cam help and overall engine?!

Hey guys! So I finally scored and got a 5.3 with 78,000 miles. But i'm one of those guys that wants to double check things while I'm here before i put it in my 1965 c10. This my first ls style motor its a 2004 with dbw. Some things I want to do are :

Convert to cable, I have read a bunch of threads and the intake will work just have to helothread the two extra holes is that correct?

thinking about doing ls6 springs, Whats decent budget cam that will work with the lift of these? (ls6 cam) I live 20 minutes from summit racing so my options are big. Just need advice on it. As well as do i have to upgrade the pushrods too? if so what size depending on the cam?

Also read some on upgrading the timing chain to a true double roller? smart upgrade? or ?

My goal is really to just do a cam and its a decent horsepower street motor. Not looking for crazy numbers. One day I will just not now. Thanks guys for any help ?!

We have a nice budget cam that would work well. Our high lift hot cam. Drives easy on a stock stall, idles aggressive and is only $515 with cam and springs. It uses the better quality pac1218 spring which still uses the stock seals and retainers.

Here it is.

That's a much better option vs LS6 cam and springs in a 5.3. Typically i like psi1511 due to weight.

Cam questions belong over here in Internal Engine.

A quality single chain is all you need.
