Default King bearings, XP or SI

I was looking at ordering some rod/main King bearings and was looking into the XP series and SI. Is XP mostly for forged cranks? I have a stock crank in my LQ4 that will have around 420-440 rwhp (Heads, cam). Will I be better off with the SI series? This will be a weekend cruiser. Thanks

Default King Bearing Tech

Hi 98, good tech question, I use both, the SI for the mains AND the XP for the rods in your case.

You will find BETTER .002" clearance with the AL main bearings + long life.
You will find BETTER .003" clearance with the Tri-metal rod bearings + long life.

I sell both

I'm interested in how they hold up. I've only ever used clevite and the same with the shop I work at. Only reason I've went with clevite is that I've seen them go for 24 at Le Mans, and not really show much wear.

What about the HP rod bearings, what are your thoughts on those. You wouldn't recommend XP for the mains in a stock crank?

I personally run king bearings exclusively. I only run hp or xp, typically xp. We run 50+ pounds of boost on our BBC pullin tractors, had issues with flaking with clevites, went to king and the problem went away.

Basically the SI is a oem equivalent replacement as I understand it, the hp/xp are better.
